M16 bonanza and a nice fill-in

Today (2026-09-24) was a fill-in field day. I sampled millipedes by the Guide River south of Burnie at a spot where only one native millipede species (Tasmaniosoma hickmanorum) had previously been recorded within a 5 km radius.

In leaf and fern litter in a blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) and manfern (Dicksonia antarctica) patch I found 2 male and 11 female M16 thipsels in about half an hour, which is very good hunting. At the same and a neighbouring site I also collected:

Amastigogonus sp. (females)
Gasterogramma psi
Lissodesmus perporosus
Somethus tasmani
Tasmaniosoma hickmanorum
Tasmanocambala greeni
